Picnic in the Park & 4th of July
There are a number of things to do in and near Livingston for this very special holiday. The streets are already overlooked with stories and pictures of veterans on every light pole in downtown. One celebration that is always a favorite in this small town is the “Picnic in the Park” event at Anniversary Park in Historic Downtown Main Street District. This event is on Monday, July 4th from 10am-2pm.
This picnic always catches the eyes of anyone who drives by because the vehicles entered in the Car & Motorcycle Show are more like works of art sitting in downtown. People of all ages love to enjoy a free hotdog, or really the “donations accepted” hotdog, and take a walk around Anniversary Park enjoying the sun and the beautiful vehicles. All the donations from this event go to a local volunteer group called F.A.I.T.H Ministries. F.A.I.T.H buys, packs, and sends care packages to active duty soldiers.
There will be live music being performed in the park during the picnic. Don’t just drive by with the windows down, make sure to get out and have some fun for a little while. This year there will be more booths than ever before including more interactive activities for the kids.
There will even be contests with prizes. Bring in a decorated bike for the Bicycle Parade for a chance to win something sweet to go with their pride of country. For the first time this year there will also be a Dog Costume Contest. Bring those leashed pups in thier red, white, and blue and have some fun. There will also be a raffle for a brand new bike.
Some of the fun new additions to this year’s event include the American Legion handing out Myli’s SweEat Ice. Main Street District’s own K&P Salon, A Time To Dance, and Compass TKD Martial Arts School will have booths as well with fun things for kids.
The Livingston Specialty Merchants’ Guild and Livingston Main Street invites locals and visitors alike to have fun see how we #livlocal at Picnic in the Park.
