The Livingston Specialty Merchant’s Guild loves taking every chance possible to keep the community that they serve well taken care of and especially entertained. This means making sure we supply our site with as much information as we can on local events. Not only do we share events that we and our members sponsor/host, but we also share with locals and visitors alike additional events that might be of interest. Feel free to submit an event to the calendar.
There are many different types of local events going on all year. Livingston loves to have family friendly events that keep us coming together like the famous. In small towns like this everything can turn into some kind of a reunion. It’s always a special sight to see all kinds of people coming together for some random fun but having it turn into extra special memories with loved ones. There are also many events just for kids with the entertainment geared towards a younger crowd. Plus some events set up with a more adult environment when it is time for a night out on the town. On the off chance there is not an event going on during a visit to town or additional places to make some memories are needed, then check out these favorite local places to shop, dine, stay, or play.
It is time for “Live, Local, Music” in downtown. Head on over to Across The Tracks to see Cole Allen play on September 23rd. The show starts at around 8:00pm. Tickets are only $12 and can be reserved by phone or purchased at the door until sold out.
Across The Tracks is a family friendly performance space with tickets available at the door. This is a non- smoking facility, but they do have a BYOB/Wine policy on show nights. Grab some friends and make a night of it with dinner from a local favorite.
Livingston Specialty Merchants Guild and Livingston Main Street are always thrilled to invite everyone to come #LivLocal at this event and enjoy a fun night out in the Historical Downtown Main Street District.
Tempe Creek Vineyard and Farm might be famous for their one of a kind wines, but they also serve up a great mimosa, sangria, and hop wine. The first Sunday of every month is “Sunday Funday“ at Tempe so they have discounted pitchers of Mimosas to celebrate. October 1st is the next one. The fun begins at 1pm and goes until they close at 5pm.

Weekly Chair Yoga at Sew Fancy
Sew Fancy is the longest running antique mall and craft store in town. This shop is just outside of the city towards the lake. They host a weekly Chair Yoga Class for some indoor entertainment. This is one of the extra events that Sew Fancy has going on regularly. Be sure to come out and have a good time on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11am. They will be having a coach from “Sit and Be Fit” lead the $5 yoga class. There is a class limit so be sure to contact Sew Fancy as soon as possible to reserve spots.

Trade Days is a family friendly environment welcoming locals, day-trippers, weekenders, lake lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts who come to have a good time in the piney woods. It is specific Saturdays and Sundays in Pedigo Park.There are a wide variety of vendors, so there is always something special to take home.

Anniversary Park Farmer’s Market
Every year Livingston Main Street hosts a fun and family friendly event in Anniversary Park just off Main Street. This year’s Artisan Markets will run in the mornings on the first and third Saturdays starting October 7th, as long as the weather permits. It will go from 9am-1pm. The vendors are always changing so make sure to go more than once.

Picnic in the Park & 4th of July Fireworks
There are a number of things to do in and near Livingston for this very special holiday. One that is always a favorite in this small town is the “Picnic in the Park” event at Anniversary Park in Historic Downtown Main Street District. This event is always July 4th from 10am-1pm. There will be a Car Show, free treats, contests with prizes, raffles, and a chance to support a great cause, F.A.I.T.H. Ministries.

Independence Day Festival & Fireworks Display
There are a number of things to do in and near Livingston for this very special holiday. This family friendly Independence Day Festival is Monday, July 3rd, with the gates opening at 5pm. The Tribal Dancers will begin at 7pm. There will be a live performace by the Brown Sugar Band from 8pm-10pm. The Fireworks Display is after the festival starts at 10pm. This event is located at the Reservation Ballpark and is free to attend.

There are always fun things to do in and near Livingston for this very special holiday. This family friendly July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza is Tuesday, July 4th, with the fun starting at 5pm. The Trade Days and fun will begin at 5pm. There will be a Fishing Derby with trophies and prizes from 6:00pm-7:30pm. The Fireworks start after after the sun goes down. This event is free to attend.

The 62nd Polk County Youth Rodeo will be held at Barney Wiggins Rodeo Arena in Livingston. There will be food and fun for people of all ages. Come on down to taste some great food and see some skilled riders. The fun starts on Wednesday, July 5th and goes until Saturday July 8th. Each night the fun starts at 7pm.
There is only a $10 fee per person to get into this event, but kids 12 and under get in free. This rodeo will have some Mutton Bustin’, Bull Riding, and more fun events.

Easter Bunny Pictures at Home Grown
Home Grown is a local shop ready to celebrate Easter with some extra fun. Be sure to come out to grab some pictures with the Easter Bunny one of the two days. First will be Friday, March 31st, from 3pm-5pm and final visit will be Saturday, April 1st, from 10am-12pm. It is sure to be a great experience to share with friends or family. Home Grown will also have additional pop up vendors those days selling items like gourmet treats.

Annual Easter Eggstravaganza Hosted by City of Livingston
Join the town for a local favorite at the City of Livingston’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, April 1st. Pedigo Park will be full of fun and excitement all morning long. Pictures with the Easter Bunny start at 9:30 am. Then the famous Eggstravaganza begins as children ages 8 and younger hunt for 20,000 eggs. There will even be drawings for bikes for ages 9 through 12 years old.

Main Street Raffles Huge Prizes
Main Street and many sponsors have come together to raffle off six different prize packages worth thousands of dollars. The drawing will be held Saturday, December 10th, with winners being announced shortly after. Tickets for these prizes are available at six different locations all around town.
There are a wide variety of 6 prizes including a Grill, Shopping Gift Cards, and even a Beach Get-A-Way at a house that sleeps 22. This is a great chance to win some incredible prizes and give back to the community. The Livingston Specialty Merchants Guild and Livingston Main Street are excited to invite visitors and locals alike to take their chances at winning these amazing prizes.

Scavenger Hunt for Rufus the Elf
Join the “hunt” across Livingston for Rufus The Elf. Rufus is an adorable elf made of lights that travels across Livingston. There will be clues announced in the attached article to help find Rufus at all his favorite places. This event starts November 22nd and goes until the forms are due on December 13th. Catch him while he makes his stops and get the chance to earn some Christmas money.

Christmas Toy Train Village Opens
Stop by and visit the vintage Christmas Toy Train Village on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 5pm-7pm between November 25th and December 30th. This is one of the biggest Toy Train Villages in Texas. It has tons of things to look for in the village like Mickey Mouse and the Grinch. While this event is free for all, donations are accepted. All donations from this event go to fundraising for The Jonas Davis Cabin and Heritage Park. Train Hosted by Good Golly Miss Molly’s.

Local Christmas Tree Farm Opens
This farm has acres of land to adventure through. Not only will this be the place to find the perfect tree, but it’s a place to make some memories. Get bundled up and make the way around this perfect setting for holiday pictures. Admission to the tree farm is free and trees are priced individually. Double Creek Farm has lots of activities available like hayrides, a playhouse, and duck races. They also have a concessions stand with hot chocolate and more. Farm opens November 25th.

Letters to Santa at Miss Effie’s Cottage
The Polk County Garden Club, will host the annual “Letters to Santa” event at Miss Effie’s Cottage, 201 Mill Street, across from the Courthouse on Saturday, December 9th from 6pm-8pm. This meet and greet with Santa is always a wonderful success as members of the Garden Club share an evening with the community. The kids always love being able to personally put their letters in the special mailbox.
Make sure to prepare to play at this event by shopping or staying in town like a local. Some locals even follow up this event by grabbing dinner or dessert at one of the favorite local places to dine. The Livingston Hometown Christmas event will be on Saturday, December 10th. The festivities will start at 12pm and go until 8pm. It will be in the traditional location in Downtown Livingston on Jackson Avenue from Church Street to Milam Street. This is a day full of food and fun for all ages including shopping, a Jingle Bell Fun Run, lots of games, and a Lighted Christmas Parade and more.

Annual Bethlehem Event in the Park
Step back in time this December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to see a live depiction of what life was like long ago. Come experience “A Drive Through Bethlehem” and celebrate Christmas like a local. From the comfort of the car, see settings of a Bethlehem marketplace and Live Nativity depicting what life was like when Jesus was born. This year’s drive through event is perfect for all ages. Gokey's Old Town Emporium 16th Annual Christmas Open House
Gokey's Old Town Emporium is a shop with all kinds of goodies to see. They also have an old time ice cream bar with famous Texas Blue Bell ice cream. Gokey's is having their 16th Annual Christmas Open House event and everyone is invited. This is a one day event on December 3th, Saturday from 11am-6pm.This event will have free punch, cookies, hot cocoa and coffee. There will even be prize drawings with a giveaway every hour. Not to mention everything in the shop will be 10%-70% off.

Gobel West Accessories is a local jewelry shop that is about to celebrate their 2nd Christmas in their current shop and they have decided to have a special visitor come back to celebrate. They are having Santa Clause come to town and everyone is invited to see him for free. The visits will be December 2nd and 3rd from 10am-2pm. They will be providing free digital pictures with Santa Clause delivered by email and allowing guests to take pictures themselves.

Sew Fancy is hosting a Pastel Art Painting Class. This is one of the locals favorite extra events that Sew Fancy has going on regularly. Be sure to come out and have a good time on Monday, November 28th, at 12:30pm. They will be having someone coach the painting of a “Starry Night”. They will also do this class again on Tuesday, November 29th, at 6pm. There is a class limit so be sure to contact Sew Fancy as soon as possible to reserve spots. The cost is only $30-$35 per person.

Shop Small Passport Event Has Big Prizes
The Livingston Specialty Merchants Guild and Livingston Main Street have come together to host a wonderful event that gives away tons of prizes. Shop Small Saturday is a way to save money and get Christmas shopping out of the way in the best form possible. Come out to support local Livingston businesses for the chance to win over $1300 in prizes. To help keep crowds manageable this event is extended between now and Saturday November 26th.

In Livingston, one of the favorites events is the annual moment of lighting all the Christmas lights. Watching the town go from a normal evening dusk lighting to a comforting Christmas glow is a moment that drops jaws. Join the town at 6pm, on Tuesday November 22nd, for a moment of celebration with a big shine. The main celebration is at City Hall in the middle of town, but the lights go all over the city. Stop by to hear a great choir and get pictures with Rudolph, Frosty, and the Gingerbread Man.

Tempe Creek Vineyard and Farm is hosting “Fall Festival in the Vines” on Saturday, November, 19th, from 4pm-7pm. They will be having live music, local vendors for shopping, and food vendors. They open at 12pm for wine and fun, but this event begins at 4pm and goes until 7pm. This event is outdoors, so be sure to dress accordingly.

They will be having someone coach the painting of an original design that ties right into a love of wine. The event is only $34 per person including a glass of wine and everything needed for painting. They’ve got every shade of wine and even special flavors getting ready to premiere regularly.

It is almost time for Halloween and it is time for some fall fun! There is one place perfect for families and individuals to have a great time surrounded by all things fall, Double Creek Farm Pumpkin Patch. The Pumpkin Patch will be open October 8th and stay open on Saturdays and Sundays until Halloween. There is a $7 admission fee to per person over 2 years of age. Take a ride on the Hayride or go for a jump in the Bounce House. Let the kids make a memory in the Playhouse, Petting Zoo, or Corn Maze. There’s even a Fire Pit when the Texas weather permits.

“Trunk or Treat” Just Outside Main Street District
There will be a “Trunk or Treat” event just outside the Historical Main Street District in the heart of Downtown Livingston. The Central Baptist Church is hosting this event for the community for free. There will be candy, games, and even a bounce house. This “Trunk Or Treat’ event will be on October 31st from 6pm-8pm. Liquidation Station hosts Contests and Fall Festival
Liquidation Station a family owned business full of fast moving inventory priced to sell quickly. They are known for their water tower standing tall outside. From now until October 30th they are having a Pumpkin Carving contest. Just bring by the jack-o-lantern to let them take a quick picture of the artist with the pumpkin to be entered to win.
Then on October 31st there will be a small Fall Festival at Liquidation Station. The fun begins at 6pm and goes until 7:30pm. There will even be Costume Contests with multiple categories. Check out their Facebook page for sneak peaks and updates.

“Trunk or Treat” hosted by Livingston HS Band
The Livingston High School Royal Brigade Band is a fun and loving group of kids. Their Band Boosters go out of their way to host an incredible event for kids of all ages for Halloween every year. This year the famous Trunk Or Treat event will be on October 30th from 5pm-8pm. Put on a costume and bring the family to celebrate with food, candy, games, photos, and supporting an amazing group of kids. Vehicles are decorated by the Sweepstakes winning band members and set up at the High School. Please watch the LRB Band Booster page for updates for this great event.

Tempe Creek Vineyard and Farm is a local wine vineyard hosting “Movie Night in The Vines” for some weekend fun, so be sure to come out and have a good time on Saturday October 29th at 7pm. They will be playing “Hocus Pocus”. Bring a blanket, grab a glass of wine, and kick back at Tempe with a movie and a view. Tempe Creek is hosting this event outdoors like one big picnic party. There will be a screen displaying the movie largely against the background of the vines. This family event is always a favorite of locals.

Candy and Wine Pairing in the Vines
Tempe Creek Vineyard and Farm is a local wine vineyard hosting “Candy and Wine Pairing” for some weekend fun, so be sure to come out and have a good time on Saturday October 29th at 12pm. They will be pairing some delicous wines with a Halloween candy that compliments it. So grab a friend, have a glass of wine, and kick back at Tempe with a candy and a view. Tempe Creek is hosting this event with indoor and outdoor seating.

Gobel West Accessories is about to celebrate their 1-year shop anniversary and they have decided to have a spooky party to celebrate with a “What We Do In The Shadows” Halloween Party. Be sure to come out and have a good time at this one day only event on Friday, October 28th from 10am-6pm. They will be hosting a costume contest the day of the party. The best costume will get a free solid 14k gold welded bracelet for themselves or a friend. There will also be a 20% off sale that day too.

The Women Interested in Networking Opportunities group of Livingston is hosting a Wicked Trivia Bingo Night. This is a women geared event taking place at the Chamber of Commerce. This event will be on Thursday October 27th from 5:30pm-7pm and admission is $15. There will be networking first and then a fun game of bingo. Alma's Courthouse Whistle Stop Cafe hosts Elvis Night with Vince King. This will be a fun night with both dinner and a show on Thursday October 27th. The dinner will be from 5:30pm-6:30pm. The doors open at 5pm and the show will start at 7pm. Call over to Alma’s for tickets at 936-327-3222. Tickets are $50 each.

The Livingston Chick-fil-A is hosting a free Family Night. Dress up like Superheroes and come out for "Superhero Training" and photo ops with their Superhero Cow. This event will be on Thursday October 27th from 5pm-8pm. Put on a costume and bring the family to have some fun.

The Polk County Commerce Center is going to have live music and a good time on October 8th. Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives are coming back to Livingston for one night of fun. The show will be at 7:30pm. Marty Stuart is a country and bluegrass music singer, songwriter, and musician. He has toured with Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash before he began a solo career in the early 1980s. Ticket prices vary.

Sew Fancy is hosting a Pena nd Ink Art Class. This is one of the locals favorite extra events that Sew Fancy has going on regularly. Be sure to come out and have a good time on Tuesday, August 2nd at 12:30pm. They will be having someone coach the painting of a “Zentangle Seashell”. There is a class limit so be sure to contact Sew Fancy as soon as possible to reserve spots. The cost is only $15 per person.

This rustic venue is excited to bring “Live, Local, Music” to downtown. Across The Tracks is located in the Historical Livingston Main Street District. They are a music venue that hosts a variety of talent performing music in many different genres. Come on out to see Meredith Crawford and Zach Aaron on August 6th. The show starts at around 8:30pm.
Across The Tracks is a family friendly performance space with tockets available at the door. This is a non- smoking facility, but they do have a BYOB/Wine policy on show nights. Grab some friends and make a night of it with dinner at a local favorite. Keep an eye out on the calendar and the Across The Tracks facebook page for inside peeks at upcoming shows.
Tempe Creek Vineyard and Farm is hosting “Yoga in the Vineyard" for some Summer fun on Saturday August 27th from 10am-11am. Tickets to this event also include one glass of wine or one glass of mimosa. Everyone is encouraged to bring a yoga mat to be as comfortable as possible. This will be an outdoor event so please be prepared for the weather. This event occurs before the Vineyard actually opens, so be sure to swing back by after 12pm for wine, mimosas, petting longhorns, and some yummy appetizers.
